Fludac is a medication designed to extend the effects of serotonin in the brain. It aids in narrowing blood vessels and functions as a neurotransmitter. It is regarded as a strong antidepressant and is deemed effective in reducing symptoms of depression.
A typical dosage of Fludac is one pill taken once or twice daily. For optimal outcomes, Fludac should be taken over an extended period. It may take up to 4 weeks before you notice relief from depressive symptoms. However, if Fludac is taken for 3 consecutive months, its effects are expected to last around 9 months. For treating obsessive-compulsive disorder, it is advisable to take Fludac for 5 weeks to achieve the best results.
You must speak with your doctor and provide your complete medical history, particularly if you have experienced recurrent epileptic seizures or have any allergies. Fludac may affect your alertness and reaction times, so it is essential to refrain from activities requiring high levels of attention (e.g., driving). Taking Fludac may lead to dizziness and drowsiness.
If you have diabetes, liver insufficiency, or have suffered a heart attack, you should not take Fludac. It is crucial to consult with your healthcare provider or pharmacist if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, as potential side effects during pregnancy have not been adequately researched. There is evidence indicating that Fludac can pass into breast milk.
The most frequent side effects include abnormal ejaculation, decreased libido, dizziness, dry mouth, low-grade fever, flatulence, headaches, impotence, sleep issues, itching, changes in appetite (either increase or decrease), nausea, anxiety, hives, sinusitis, drowsiness, sore throat, sweating, tremors, diarrhea, retching, and fatigue.
The less common side effects may involve abnormal taste, agitation, bleeding, chills, ear pain, confusion, fever, frequent urination, hypertension, increased appetite, memory issues, palpitations, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), sleep disturbances, and weight gain. In children and adolescents, less frequent side effects may include agitation, excessive menstrual bleeding, frequent urination, and symptoms of mania or hypomania (euphoria and hyperactivity).
Always check with your healthcare provider or pharmacist before taking any herbal or dietary supplements or over-the-counter medications.
If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once. Overdosing can lead to severe consequences, so if you suspect an overdose of Fludac, seek emergency medical assistance immediately.
Fludac should be stored at a temperature between 68 – 77 °F (20 – 25 °C), away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not keep it in the bathroom. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not use the drug if it is past its expiration date.
